Spiritual Direction in Barrie, Ontario
A contemplative, deeply personal practice for those seeking clarity, meaning, and a more conscious relationship with the sacred — whatever that means for you.
Formal spiritual direction with Wanda Nayduk, Registered Occupational Therapist and psychotherapist, 39 years in practice — in Barrie, across Simcoe County, and by secure virtual session across Canada and internationally.
Something in you is asking a question that ordinary life has no space for
Perhaps it is a question about meaning — about why you are here, what your life is for, what you are being called toward. Perhaps it is a question about God, or about the absence of God, or about the nature of the sacred in a world that often feels anything but. Perhaps it is a question about suffering — why it exists, what it means, how to move through it without losing what matters most.
Spiritual direction is a space for exactly those questions. Not a space where they will be answered for you — but a space where they can be held with care, explored with depth, and followed wherever they lead.
Wanda Nayduk offers formal spiritual direction alongside psychotherapy — and, for those who want it, within one integrated framework. She brings to this work 39 years of clinical experience, a lifetime of her own spiritual exploration, and the lived wisdom of a wounded healer who has walked through her own dark nights and emerged with a deep knowing that the sacred is present even in the most difficult human experiences.

What is spiritual direction?
Spiritual direction is one of the oldest forms of intentional spiritual accompaniment in the human tradition — found across Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, Indigenous, and many other spiritual lineages. At its heart it is simply this: a relationship in which one person accompanies another in their spiritual journey, helping them to notice, name, and respond to the movements of the sacred in their life.
It is not therapy — though it can be profoundly healing. It is not advice-giving, problem-solving, or pastoral care in the conventional sense. It is a contemplative, reflective, and deeply personal process of paying attention — to what is happening in your inner life, to what you are drawn toward and what you are resisting, and to what all of this is inviting you toward.
In Wanda’s practice, spiritual direction is offered both as a standalone service and as an integrated dimension of her Integrative Psycho-Spiritual Therapy framework — for those who wish to bring both dimensions into a single therapeutic relationship. How those dimensions fit together is described on its own page.
Who is spiritual direction for?
- Those who sense that something in their spiritual life is shifting, deepening, or asking for more intentional attention
- Those navigating a significant spiritual transition — a change in faith, a loss of belief, a deepening of practice
- Those who feel a call they cannot quite name — to something more, something deeper, something they have not yet found words for
- Those in spiritual desolation — a prolonged experience of dryness, absence, or distance from the sacred
- Those who have left a religious tradition and are finding their way toward a new relationship with the spiritual
- Those who have never belonged to a formal tradition but have a rich inner spiritual life they want to explore
- Those whose suffering has raised profound questions about meaning, about God, about the nature of a universe in which such pain is possible
- Those in the second half of life drawn to the deeper questions of legacy, mortality, and ultimate meaning
All traditions honoured — no belief required
Wanda’s spiritual direction practice draws on the wisdom of multiple traditions — Christian mysticism and contemplative prayer, Indigenous spiritual wisdom, Jewish ethical and mystical thought, Buddhist mindfulness and contemplative practice, Taoist philosophy, and the broader mystical and perennial traditions. No specific belief system is required or assumed. What is required is only a genuine desire to pay attention to your inner spiritual life and to explore what is happening there.
